My employer recently invested in a Samsung Galaxy Tab for my use. I have now joined the ranks of many recruiters who travel with tablets, though most of my counterparts who have a tablet are iPad owners. Being anti-apple and a heavy Google product user, we opted for a Galaxy tab for me. I have only had it for a week, so I can say that we are still getting used to each other. 🙂
I look forward to seeing how useful the Galaxy will be on the road. For example, I have been wondering if it will replace my netbook completely or if I will have to travel with both machines.
I currently use my netbook for everything when I travel: taking students’ names and contact info at fairs, showing them where to find info on the website, checking my email, doing work from my hotel, creating presentations, etc.
I predict that I will probably continue taking student contact info with my netbook, and possibly using it for heavy-dut projects and large volumes of email (like the follow-up) messages that I send out after the fairs.
As for my Galaxy tab, I am hoping to use it for visual activities, like showing photos, video testimonials, our website, and, eventually, showing our first interactive brochure, which we are currently developing with i-studentgroup. The graphics are terrific!
Overall, I am really happy with the purchase so far and I look forward to testing it overseas!
